tation might be construed as a defect, but this is remedied by frequent references to books and papers dealing with this aspect of mass spectrometry. Although the book contains some material from the previous books published by the authors, it constitutes a must for the library of those interested in the applications of mass spectroscopy.

longer life of the burner head, by increasing the cooling area through the use of more fins and an aluminum heat sink surrounding the gear rack, for more effective conductivity. maintains high rate of heat dissipation, by the use of chrome plated brass body and fins. improved fuel control as a result of cooler operating needle valves. faster, easier settings with angle adjustment knobs on both sides of burner.

This comprehensive book excellently covers radiochemistry methodology with emphasis on Russian technology. Both theoretical bases and practical techniques are presented with the latter encompassing the disciplines of nuclear technology, geochemistry, cosmic chemistry, and biology. This book encompasses more areas of interest to the practicing radiochemist than any single book previously published. Although dated 1967, the original text apparently was first published in 1963 since the latest reference cited, except for one in 1964, is early 1963. The translation, by E. J. Rothery of the College of Technology, Dublin, is generally excellent except for considerable misspelling of referenced authors. Of 1559 references, well over half are Russian. Of these, many are symposium papers and thus are difficult to obtain. By concentrating on Russian references, many cases of pioneering work by other scientists are not given adequate credit. There is a tendency to list references without stating their advantages. The reader should be aware that a book written over four years ago cannot take into account the rapidly changing complexion of radiochemical analysis due to high resolution spectrometry with semiconductor detectors and to isotope dilution techniques such as substoichiometric analysis. The first chapter, "State and Behavior of Radioéléments in Solutions," is, in the reviewers' opinion, the most excellent. The only detraction is a tendency to neglect a definition of the terms used in equations. The second chapter, "Theoretical Bases of the Methods of Radiochemical Analysis," is, in a sense, mistitled, for it presents mainly experimental data for the separation of elements based on chemistry techniques.

$145?° complete Sage Series 2 3 4 Constant Speed Syringe Pumps accept all types of syringes, including convenient disposables. Several models are available, each offering a large number of discrete flow rates—obtained by varying syringe sizes (up to lOcc) and " q u i c k - c h a n g e " gears. Flow rates range from 0.112 juJ/day to 16.8 ml/min—depending on specific model chosen. Large constant speed pumps (up to lOOcc capacity) and continuously variable speed models are also available. Variable speed pumps feature a linear flow control dial and a five million to one flow rate range. Optional accessories for both types include a double syringe holder for 2 channel pumping. Infusionwithdrawal models also available. Whatever your application, there's a Sage Syringe Pump to provide u n i f o r m , accurate, and reproducible infusion at the right rate.
