trie current, shock, and vibration, and are especially sensitive to tem perature. Tipping of a cell by more than 45° or inadvertent contact of the terminals of the cells with each other would cause permanent dam age. For the trip, the cells were housed in a special box designed to minimize temperature change, shock, and vibration, and the in terior of the box was darkened. The cells were then transported under police escort to their final destination. New Russian Journals Translated
The Faraday Press, Inc. of New York is now publishing for the first time the complete cover-to-cover translations of 29 key Soviet jour nals. A large number of specialized journals were launched in the USSR last year as a result of a major re organization of the scientific pub lishing industry. Titles of special interest to chemists are as follows: Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry; Chemistry of Hetero cyclic Compounds, Chemistry of Natural Compounds; Applied Bio chemistry and Microbiology ; Men deleev Chemistry Journal; Soviet Progress in Chemistry; Journal of Applied Spectroscopy ; Soviet Fluid Mechanics; Applied Solar Energy ; Polymer Mechanics; Mos cow University Chemistry Bulletin; Combustion, Explosion, and Shock Waves; Journal of Engineering Physics; and Soviet Genetics (all titles translated). There is a period of several months between receipt of the original Russian journal and publi cation of the translation. Annual subscriptions are as low as $90 and as high as $160 for one of the trans lated journals, with an additional $5 for subscriptions sent outside the U. S. and Canada. Free author and title indexes are supplied with the last issue of each volume that is subscribed to. A catalog that describes each of the journals more fully is available from the publisher, 84. YOU'LL WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT
metal membrane filters.. So we offer a bulletin that explains all about these pure silver membranes of extremely uniform porosity. This bulletin de scribes the Flotronics Metal Membrane's corrosion resistant and bacteriostatic characteristics, how it will filter out all particles above 5 microns in size, and how the finest of six porosity grades filters out everything bigger than .2 micron. You'll learn why metal membrane filters are preferred for micro-filtrations and for general laboratory and production filtrations of pharmaceuticals, biologicals, fine chemicals and beverages. And you'll read about the membrane's positive surface retention, how it does not adsorb filtrates to any mea surable degree, and how it can be cleaned for repeated usage. An important footnote: Flotronics Metal Membrane Filters cost no more than less advantageous filtering media. For ALL the facts on Flotronics Metal Membrane Filters, send for your free copy of Bulletin MMF-1.
