Much has happened in five years to make the analyst even more grateful to the manufacturers of reagent chemicals. Comparison of this volume with its 1955 alder brother makes this increasingly evident. The philosophy of thecommittee is apparent not only in the clear presentation of the well organized information, but in the space labelled "Notes" at the end of each page. This is a book for the working chemist. It should be available to every student in an analytical course. Perhaps it can cure some of their tendency to take reagents for granted. m. F. K. Herbert Simonds continue8 the presentation begun in his "Concise Guide to 35, Plastics" (reviewed in TEIS JOURNAL, 318 (1958)) and continued in Volume 1 of the present series. The properties of recently developed plastics are presented briefly. Brief review articles on current technical praoesses cover; stereo-specific catalysts and stereoordered polymers, block and graft polymers, urethane foams, synthesis and structures, and Euoroertrhon nomenclature. This discussion takes up about one-fifth of the book. The remainder is given over to reports from 69 manufacturers on the nature of their most recent products. The coverage of the plastic field is very complete. This is a good reference hook and also a good place to look to get a survey of the aoolieations snd ootential appGations of &tics today.
