Preparation of 2-Oxazolones.-The appropriate benzoin ( 2 .O g), urethan (3.0 g), and polyphosphoric acid (10 g) ere heated with stirring a t 160” for 2 hr and then poured into water. The solid was crystallized from a suitable solvent (see Table 111).
