clyde, July 7 and 8, 1966. The ob ject of the conference is to stimulate interest in the growing field of electron microscopy and microprobe analysis ap plied to chemically grown surface films. Papers presented should cover the studies of such films, their nucleation, growth, epitaxy and morphology by electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, electron diffraction, scanning microscopy, and any similar techniques. The scope of the pro gram includes examination of separated films and composite structures—e.g., matrix metal and the attached oxide film. Offers of short contributions of about 20 minutes are invited and titles and tentative outlines (300 words) should be sent to Dr. C. K. Williamson, Berke ley Nuclear Laboratories, Berkeley, Gloucestershire, not later than May 6. A leaflet on the preparation of sub mission of outlines is available on re quest from the Institute and Society. Further details and application forms are available from the Meetings Of ficer, The Institute of Physics and The Physical Society, 47 Belgrave Square, London, S. W. 1, England.
