TODAY AND TOMORROW PRODUCTS A T L A S HEXITOLS GIVE UNIQUE PROPERTIES Not only today, under priorities by proclamation, but tomorrow when we return to the familiar priority by customer preference . . . the unique properties offered by the series of Atlas polyhydric alcohols, and the many chemical products derived from them, lead to new possibilities for sales and profit. Today Atlas polyalcohols are used in a wide and growing variety of products. Tomorrow, many who are carrying on research with these polyalcohols today will have the insurance of a real sales edge.
ATLAS MANNITOL Mannitol is a centuries-old product made new—through lower prices effected by Atlas* commercial production. A crystalline powder, colorless, odorless, with a faint sweet taste. Non-hygroscopic, water soluble, melts at 166°C. Polyreactivity and high purity have led to its use in synthetics, particularly oil-modified ester-type resins.

PRODUCTS DERIVED FROM T H E HEXITOLS The hexitols, C«H8(OH)«, are among the most versatile of chemical raw materials. Products made with them range from mobile liquids through viscous oils, soft and hard resins, t o low- and high-melting crystalline solids. The fatty acid esters of the anhydro-hexitols are synthetic waxes and oils—emulsifiers of wide industrial applications. Other products are softeners, hardeners, stiffeners, dispersing agents, penetrants and plasticizers.
