Industry, predictably, is not happy with either the FDA or CPSC actions, although the FDA move was hardly a surprise. Du Pont, the major U.S. producer of chlorofluorocarbons, said in a prepared statement that "large areas of uncertainty still remain in the ozone depletion theory."
