An exciting and special undergraduate pro^^ gram is in store for you at the 216th ACS national meeting in Boston, Mass., August 2225, 1998. Participate in some of the activities below or those sponsored by more than 25 ACS technical divisions to help prepare yourself for a marketable career in the chemical sciences, and have a good time.
Saturday, Ata^u^^^^p^^S^f p.m, WonderScience: Hands-on Activities for SAACS and Teachers (Grades 4 - 6 ) * Student Affiliates and teachers will work in teams to share ideas and learn about hands-on science activities suitable for 4-6 graders. This session also will feature a lively one-hour, hands-on interaction conducted by the workshop participants with 4-6 grade children. To preregister contact Cecilia Hernandez at

How To Jump Start Your Career* (Department of Career Services) This workshop will focus on developing skills and strategies for undergraduate students wno are preparing to enter the job market. The workshop will feature job market trends and tips on managing your career, assessing how prepared you are for the job market, and understanding organizational dynamics. How to Use ACS Career Services To Your Advantage* (Department of Career Services) This session will provide an overview of the services and programs available to undergraduates through the ACS Office of Career Services, e.g., mock interviews, resume review, and the National Employment Clearing House. Getting the Most Out of the National Meeting* Maximize your experience at the ACS national meeting. Explore what undergraduate programs, technical programs, and other activities are available in Boston. Student Kick-Ofl Social* This is the major icebreaker for undergraduates and mentors. Come to have fun and learn about the hot events of the meeting before everything starts. Refreshments will be served.
Undergraduate Hospitality Center Opens* The undergraduate hospitality center will open on Sunday and Monday from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m.-l 1:30 a.m. The hospitality center is open to all students and their advisors. The center will feature career-related videos, sci-fi movies, meeting souvenirs, and other activities. How to Build A Successful Student Affiliates Chapter* This popular session involves undergraduate participants who share their strategies for overcoming obstacles that they have encountered in achieving the yearround goals and objectives of their successful Student Affiliates chapters. Topics of discussion will include chapter development, recruitment/retention of members, fundraising, and more. Chemistry Survival Guide: Learning How to Learn Chemistry* Are you frustrated in a chemistry course? Is there too much information for you to remember? Come hear Diane Bunce of the Catholic University of America, an international scholar on chemical education, share important learning and teaching styles in chemistry— learn effective methods for learning chemistry and how to overcome chemistry anxiety. Students and professors are encouraged to attend. Undergraduate Symposium - Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery* Three distinguished chemists will present a wide-ranged discussion on the latest development technologies and other issues in medicinal chemistry. The presenters will also share thoughts on where they see the field headed in the near future, and describe their personal career experiences.
Experiential Programs in Chemistry (EPiC) Activity Roundtable Discussion: Co-op/ Internship, Global, and Service Learning Experiences* Come and network with your peers who have incorporated an experiential learning component into their undergraduate career. If you have ever thought about applying for an internship or co-op opportunity; studying or working abroad; or participating in a service learning project, this discussion will answer some of your questions.
