model 1420—with an all new and ultrasensitive thermal conductivity detector

model 1440—features four easily interchanged and highly sensitive ionization detectors

Use a thermal conductivity detector to quantitate 5 to 10 ppm of gases and light hydro carbons easily and routinely? You sure can. You can, that is, if you're using our new Model 1420 gas chromatograph. It has been designed to use a reduced volume thermal conductivity detector and high efficiency V& " metal and cap illary columns. T h e advanced design detector provides resolution equal to that of a flame ion ization detector. What's more, the sensitivity is so high you can hardly believe you're using a T C detector. B u t the detector is only part of the story. T h e 1420 has the versatility to handle a wide variety of applications, and the quality to pro vide accurate, reproducible results over a broad range of operating conditions. Yet it is rugged and simple to operate—a real workhorse. It will provide years of reliable service, even under the heavy workloads imposed by routine or quality control applications. And t h e 14 2 0 has lots of features packed into its compact size and budget-pampering cost. Important things like a highly regulated solid state bridge/power supply. Independent flow controllers. A choice of three column oven tem perature controllers. Dual column capability. Dual injectors. And much more. T h e 1420 is a problem solver deluxe. It changes those previously difficult T C analyses into easy ones.

T h e field-proven 1440 provides researchgrade performance routinely, day in and day out. At a budget-soothing price. And it is packed with features that enable you to get that top performance over a wide variety of applica tions. All-glass capability for biomedical, pesti cide, and toxicological applications, for example. With four highly sensitive ionization detec tors and three types of high efficiency columns (capillary, Ve" metal, or lA" o.d.X 2 m m i.d. glass) to choose from, you're equipped to tackle any g.c. job you want to. And you can be confi dent of getting the kind of results you want. Yet the 1440 is so rugged and reliable, it is also ideal for routine or quality control work. You can easily interchange the detectors yourself in about 5 minutes. T o go with the detectors, there is an all solid state electrom eter. It has virtually zero drift, and so little noise you can operate the detectors at their maximum sensitivity. You can choose from three column oven temperature controllers. And independently controlled injector, column, and detector tem peratures are standard. So is the most useful accessory panel you've ever seen. It lets you install accessories quickly, and without modi fication to the instrument. Talk about good things coming in small packages. T h e compact 1440 is the big per former with the low price tag.
