Unit determines oxygen concentra tions on the basis of high paramagnetic susceptibility of the gas. The instru ment is available in the filament or annulus type, in which the analyzer units are interchangeable and comple mentary. The annulus type is recom mended especially for estimations where more than 1% hydrogen or helium is present, or where a higher response speed is desirable. The company says that it is affected by carbon dioxide, however, and must be level when used. The filament type detector, on the other hand, is relatively insensitive to carbon dioxide and is more suited to conditions associated with change of level. Minimum ranges are 0 to 8% or 0 to 2% oxygen full scale, depend ing on the type of indicator or recorder used. Cambridge Instrument Co. 4 2 2

Aerograph Model 650 is designed to supply the hydrogen and air necessary for operation of flame ionization de tectors. The hydrogen is generated by electrolysis, and an adjustable flow rate of 10 to 40 ml. per minute is read di rectly on a large meter. Filtered air at 300 ml. per minute is supplied by a small vibratory pump. The unit is said to require no attention other than refilling with distilled water twice each month.
