W h a t d o e s GeniUS
look like?
Genius appears in men with forms as various as the human race itself. It has appeared in a blind slave named Homer, in a deaf musician named Beethoven, in the leathery, elongated form of Lincoln and the diminutive, bright-eyed form of Spinoza. Genius, therefore, has no fixed appearance. It can be discerned only in the results of men's efforts. At Ashland we make no claim to genius. But we do know that genius is always individual; that it always appears in its own guise. And we at Ashland both respect and acknowledge the individual.
