What's so special about our organosulfurs? What makes our organosulfurs so special is the fact that most of them aren't really special at all —but standard Pennsalt products. Like thiophene, for example, with its unique combination of sulfur atom, cyclic structure, and high reactivity. It's pretty difficult to get thiophene in quantity at reasonable prices—unless you get it from us. Or methane sulfonyl chloride, another lab volume specialty that we offer in commercial quantities. It's great for synthesizing products useful in mutagenic and other biological applications, for imparting flame resistance to cellulose, or for stabilizing liquid sulfur trioxide. Our growing family of organosulfurs includes straight- and branched-chain mercaptans from
methyl to hexadecyl, ring compounds like cyclohexyl mercaptan, thioethanols, straight-chain and cyclic sulfides, sulfonic acids, sulfonyl chlorides, tetrahydrothiophene, cyclohexyl mercaptan, and TNPS. All of these versatile compounds are useful either as reagents in organic syntheses or as additives, offering a wide range of possibilities for preparing new kinds of products and for modifying the properties of existing products.
