WHEATON KEELE MICRO REACTOR VIAL Unique double chamber design facilitates component isolation and recovery •

• •

Perform micro scale reactions and extractions in the same container with a minimum amount of manipulation and transfer Eliminates evaporation step after liquid/liquid extraction Isolate extracted component in narrow capillary neck and recover nanogram quantities (up to 90% recovery) Micro reactor can be sealed with cap and TFE liner and heated up to 200°C

Stephen G. Weber (left), an associate professor of chemistry and affiliate of the Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh, received a Ph.D. degree in 1979 from McGill University. Under the direction of William C. Purdy, he was involved in the development of a homogeneous electro chemical immunoassay. His research interests are the use of excited-state pro cesses in detection work, the S/N problem in electrochemistry, electrostatics in chromatography, and the understanding of stochastic processes in chromatogra phy and electrochemistry. He has gained an appreciation of the many similarities between electrochemistry and chromatography through his work in both areas. John T. Long received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Geneva College (Beaver Falls, PA) in 1981 and will graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a Ph.D. in chemistry in August 1988. His research interests include electrochemis try and chromatography, with emphasis in electrochemical detection and the application of microelectrodes. Long is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Society for Electroanalytical Chemistry, the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh, the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh, and the Xi Chapter of Phi Lambda Upsilon.
