Our work has been recognized by the USEPA, with the presentation of the 2006 Presiaential Green .Chemistry Challenge Award, for our directed evolution of three biocatalysts to produce :the key chiral building block for Atorvastin, the active ingredient in Lipitor. This process increases yield and is more efficient and kinder to the environment than conventional methods.
