INTRODUCING

HIGH PRESSURE FILTRATION For the

Laboratory

• NEW FILTER UNIT OPERATES UNDER POSITIVE PRESSURES TO 100 P.S.I. These new horizontal plate filters, designed and constructed by the Sparkler Manufacturing Co. and sold exclusively through Ε. Η. Sargent & Co., bring to the laboratory for the first time, the speed advantage of high pressure filtration formerly found only in larger industrial equipment. These new laboratory filters are constructed of type 316 stainless steel and offer excellent resist ance to corrosion by chemicals with the exception of hydrochloric acid, some metal chlorides and hot concentrated mineral acids. Both units have ample drainage space under the screens which support the filtering medium to per mit complete recovery of expensive organic liquids and solutions. In operation, the filtering medium is clamped securely around its perimeter, permitting the use of all types and thicknesses of media such as paper, cloth, asbestos cloth, glass cloth, plastic cloth and wire screen. A baffle plate is provided so that a pre-coat of activated carbon, diatomaceous earth, etc., may be established and filtration proceed with a minimum of disturbance to the cake. Diameter of filtering septum 144 m.m. (5^2 inches). Each model is provided with a drain tubulature and inlet connection to permit continuous vacuum filtration of large batches of liquids.

Model L-1000 The Model L-1000 has a working capacity of 1000 ml. and is intended for operation at positive pressures up to 100 P.S.I. A nickel plated pressure gauge (three ranges avail able, 0 to 30, 0 to 60 or 0 to 100) is connected to the pressure inlet to indicate applied pressure. Either compressed air or gas may be used to provide necessary pressure. T h e filter consists of: a machined base with three detachable legs, a welded plate shell, a screen to support the filter medium, a top with sealing gasket and separable baffle plate, three tie rods and wing nuts and an air connection with pressure gauge. Model L-350 The Model L-350 has a capacity of 350 ml. and a m a x i m u m operating pressure of 40 P.S.I. Pressure is provided b y a hand operated r u b b e r bulb. The body of the filter is supported by a separable tripod stand and is equipped with a support screen, pressure ring and cover. W h e n ordering use Sargent Catalog Number: S-32550—FILTER, Pressure or Vacuum, Stainless Steel, with Gauge (specify range), Sparkler Model L-1000 $255.00 S-32555—FILTER, Pressure or Vacuum, Stainless Steel, Sparkler Model L-350 $65.00
