SARGENT COMBUSTION FURNACE Slashes Heating Time Over 1000%
Sargent's radiant heating means rapid heating — from room temperature to 700° C. in a few minutes. Sargent engineering design means rapid cooling from 750° C. to room temperature in ten minutes. Sargent engineering design and Sargent's perfection of the radiant heating principle for micro application means speed of analyses is far faster than is the case when using conventional furnaces. Sargent antiquates conventional combustion furnaces — no insulation or ceramic cores are used. This means power consumption is cut in half. The avoidance of insulation, and the use of a quick opening and closing aluminum reflecting shell, makes it unnecessary to move the furnace away from the tube for cooling, as is the case when using conventional furnaces. Nor does the width of the case interfere with adjacent positioning of mortar, or with the application of gas burners for burning the samples, for the panel width and furnace length are identical, 7". The Sargent combustion furnace was created for
use in the Dumas method for nitrogen, for carbon and for hydrogen. It has been used with equal success for halogens and sulphur. Its practical operating temperature range extends to 850° C. and the helical chromel wire element — easily replaceable, but with long life — and shell apertures will accommodate either the standard micro tube or larger tubes up to 14 mm O.D. Panel contains all controlling equipment, including temperature indicating meter, power switch, pilot light and variable transformer control for selection of temperature. Height of furnace center from bench, 9 1 /i"; length of panel, 12"; height of case, 6Vs"·, weight, 211/2 lbs.; maximum power consumption, 300 watts. S-36400 FURNACE — Combustion, Micro and Semi-Micro, Radiant Type, Sargent. Complete with separable cord and plug for attachment to standard outlets, for operation from 115 volt, 60 cycle A.C. circuits $85.00
