RAPID HEATING RAPID COOLING LITTLE HEAT RADIATION AUTOMATIC DRIVE (Two Speed) COMPACT Programming controls provide four different three phase programs, or two phase or single phase programs as selected.

MAXIMUM UTILIZATION OF RADIANT TRANSMISSION INCREASES SPEED OF ANALYSIS Heats from room t e m p e r a t u r e to 700° C. in approximately seven minutes. Cools from 750° C. to room temperature in approximately ten minutes. The automatic drive and programming device for the sample b u r n i n g furnace allow the operator to devote his attention to the preparation of a second sample during the period of burning the first. No ceramic cores or insulating materials are used—power consumption is almost half that of conventional micro furnaces. This apparatus has been developed in consultation with commercial and academic micro chemical laboratories in which a large volume of elementary analysis is performed and where time is an important factor. The Sargent Combustion Apparatus is being employed with great success for halogen and sulphur as well as for carbon and hydrogen. The compact unit is installed in a metal case 24 inches long, 12 inches wide and 6% inches high, with an aluminum top panel on which furnaces and controls are mounted. Quickly replaceable heating units are heavy gauge

chromel wire. Length of long furnace, 7 inches; length of moving furnace, 2 inches; approximate m a x i m u m length of travel of moving furnace, 7 inches; m a x i m u m size of combustion tube accommodated, 14 millimeters O.D.; alternative rates of travel of moving furnace, 4 millimeters per m i n u t e and 12 per minute, respectively; m a x i m u m static time interval accommodated, 15 minutes; m a x i m u m operating t e m p e r a ture of furnaces, over 850 degrees centigrade; m a x i m u m power consumption of long furnace, 275 watts; m a x i m u m power consumption of moving furnace, 175 watts; m a x i m u m power consumption of complete unit, 600 watts. S-2I580 COMBUSTION APPARATUS—Micro and SemiMicro, Semi-Automatic, Programming, Sargent. Complete with removable mortar, two furnaces and cord and plug for attachment to standard outlets, b u t without glassware or thermometer, for operation from 115 volt 60 cycle A.C. circuits $475X0
