Application references range from vitamin separation from a glyceride fat to bringing about albinism in t h e leaves of kidney bean plants. One other fact you should have j u s t in case: we can supply i t in quantity.
With B47 above available from us commercially, you may want to make your own dimethyl ester for transesterification with polyhydric alcohols to produce thermoplastic polyesters. B u t if you're not set up for this, our dimethyl ester is excep tionally pure and available in easily handled small white briquettes.

One of our chemists came up with a neat way to synthesize this pentanoic acid. Thinking to make his work commercially meaningful, we evaluated several esters as vinyl plasticizers, but found that permanence and mechanical properties were only fair. I t h a s been used, however, to synthesize drugs and hormones and in biochemical research.
