Editorial I am very pleased to welcome Dr. Anthony (Tony) R. H. Goodwin as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Chemical and Engineering Data. Dr. Goodwin is a scientist with Schlumberger and is currently located at Schlumberger, Sugar Land, TX. Dr. Goodwin obtained his Ph.D. from the laboratory of Professor M. L. McGlashan at University College, London, under the supervision of Dr. M. B. Ewing. After graduation, Dr. Goodwin worked at BP Research, Sunbury, U.K., and then moved to the Physical and Chemical Properties Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, MD. He next took a post at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Centre for Applied Thermodynamic Studies at the University of Idaho from where he joined Schlumberger, first in Cambridge, U.K.; then in Ridgefield, CT; and now in Texas. Dr. Goodwin’s interests include experimental methods for the determination of the thermodynamic and transport properties of fluids and the correlation of these properties. Previously Tony was an Editor of the Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics. At Schlumberger he focuses on the measurement of the properties of petroleum reservoir fluids, especially the development of methods to determine these properties down-hole in adverse environments. In particular, Tony has extended his research into the use of instruments developed with the methods of Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS, which combines the process of integrated circuits with bulk micro-machining) for the determination of the thermophysical properties of fluids. Dr. Goodwin has over 60 publications in refereed journals reporting both state-of-the-art experimental methods and experimental data on the thermophysical properties of alternative refrigerants and hydrocarbon fluids. Dr. Goodwin has over 10 U.S. Patents for acoustic transducers, the determination of density from sound speed measurements, and the measurement of thermophysical properties. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including being treasurer of the International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics, a Fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and a member of the American Chemical Society. He has edited a book entitled Experimental Thermodynamic Volume VI, Measurement of the Thermodynamic Properties of Single Phases and is preparing a second volume of Physical Acoustic and the Metrology of Fluids with J.
