Briefs Section Expanded PLIGHT of the reader in trying to digest the scientific literature is fully appreciated by every editor. The Briefs section of ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY is designed to give the reader a quick survey of the contributed articles in each issue. Many publications have adopted this device over the years to permit the selection of those articles which are of interest for detailed study. Our Briefs of contributed articles are placed on alternate pages so they may be cut out and placed on cards for filing. Some members of our Advisory Board have suggested that it would be useful for those keeping card files to have all the items listed in the Briefs section. This seems like a reasonable request, so beginning with this issue, titles, authors, and their addresses are listed for Scientific Communications, Correspondence, and Aids for the Analytical Chemist. Briefs for these sections are not given. We trust many of our readers will find this addition useful. Finally, we are glad to report that our constant effort to publish papers promptly is being rewarded by the fact that as we go into 1965, there continues to be no backlog and 50% of our papers are being published within five months or less.
