Broader Horizons In keeping with our plans for continued growth and excellence. efforts are heinp made to further the international nature o f t h e .Jo~irnal.In t h e latest six-month period studied (December 1978- hlay 1979). :30''( ot'the research contributions came from outside the L7,S.This is more than double the foreign representation ( 1 W )o f ten >-earsago. Much ol'this growth is due to the fact that authors are well aware that publication i n ANALYrrr('A1, CHE:MISTRY ensures wide circulation and riiaximum readership of their research accomplishments. There is no shortage of journals worldwide f o r puhlishing research results. According to t h e Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index (CASSI), there are more than 35 journals t h a t deal with analytical chemistry. This includes 130th t h e general and specialty puhlications. most of which are commercial ventures. In spite of this competition. A N AI \T I C: A L C H E:M I s T R Y,a profess iona 1 society j ()ur t i al. c( ) n t i n 11e s t ( ) be recognized as the world's leading journal in the hroad field o f ana-. lytical chemistry. IVe continue to encourage our international colleagues to participate more fully by suhmitting their best contributions to our .Journal. In addition to maximum exposure. the advantage of rapid publication allows research accomplishments i n a highly competitive research environment t o be quickly shared hy one's colleagues. One immediate step to increase the international fla\.or o f the ,Journal is t h e addition of foreign scientists to our Advisory Hoard. This active group meets periodically to review policy and provide advice on a variety o f editorial subjects. Included in t h e group are representatives o f aca-. demic, industrial. and government laboratories. Care is taken to ensure a broad distribution of technical specialists and a three-year rotation system provides input from t h e maximum number of experts. We are pleased to announce t h a t the first such addition is (ieorges Guiochon of the Lahoratoire de Chimie Analytique Physique. I?cole Polytechnique, Palaiseau. France (see p &5 A . .January). FVe ivelcome his expertise and advice. Other outstanding international leaders in analytical chemistry will join us in t h e future. ITith the inclusion 0 1 ' foreign scientists on the Board, we hope t o encourage an even greater contribution of q iiali t y manuscripts by our inter na t ic ) na1 f r ie n ds.
