36 STEP TAP CHANGING TRANSFORMER The new model 051 Multiple Unit Muffle Furnace offers all of the quality and dependability of the Hevi Duty line of laboratory furnaces in one self contained unit which includes an indicating pyrometer and a tap-changing transformer, which is the most reliable system for input control. Its appearance is radically different from the usual square or rectangular furnaces, the heating chamber being housed in a heavily insulated cylinder which reduces heat loss by radiation. The two side members of the pyramidal base form the actual support for the furnace, a type of construction resulting in what is practically a line contact between the furnace and the base. This allows greater circulation of air in this area and as a consequence the indicating and control instruments housed in the base operate at approximately room temperature a t all times. T h e front panel, on w h i c h t h e controls a r e mounted, is part of a removable assembly which contains the temperature indicating pyrometer, the tap-changing transformer and the terminal board. The rear panel is removable to provide access to the terminal board. The tap-changing transformer used in the new model 051 furnace, provides 36 steps of control down to approximately 900° F .
The heating units, top and bottom, are inter- changeable as are the two side units. All units are easily replaceable and are reversible so that they may be installed with the coiled wires exposed or muffled. The new Hevi Duty Multiple Unit Muffle F u r nace, Model 051 is characterized by low heat loss (.6 K W H / H at 1850° F.), rapid heating from cold (65 min. to 1850° F.) and its capacity to respond to the demand for quick changes in operating temperatures. Model 051 is for use with 115 volt or 230 volt 50/60 cycle circuits only. The maximum, input is 1150 watts, permitting connection to standard electrical appliance outlets. SPECIFICATIONS
