Image Plane Digitizer. A 2-page sheet explains the Digitizer, an instrument which provides a means of rapidly digitizing X and Y coordinates. Department IPD-120, Itek Corp., 10 Maguire Rd., Lexington, Mass. 622 Mass Spectrum Digitizer. A 4-page bulletin provides information on the 43-201 Mascot, an unprogrammed digitizer for digital conversion and readout of the output from CEC's 21-100 Series Mass Spectrometers. Bulletin 34201. German Reprint. A reprint, "Apparatus for the Measurement of Sorption Kinetics and a Micro Method for the Measurement of Sorption Isotherms," is available. This scientific article is written in German. Cahn Instrument Co., 15505 Minnesota Ave., Paramount, Calif. 624

Sensitivity: 0.1 microgram (10- r gram) Capacity: 1.5 grams The Cahn GRAM Electrobalance is ideal for Spectroscopy. It will weigh all of the solid and liquid samples, with better accuracy than the analytical instrument, it will weigh the little ones more accurately than any other balance It can be used next to chopper motors, vacuum pumps, and other sources of vibration, at full accuracy. Anyone can get ultra-micro results with it.

USE IT FOR • IR samples (especially the solid ones) • UV samples (avoid costly & time-consuming multiple dilutions) • Emission samples & standards, macro & micro • NMR samples (the technique is getting more sensitive) • Raman samples

Mass Spectrometer. An 8-page bulletin describes and gives specifications of the Type 21-703 Mass Spectrometer. This is a first order angular focusing mass spectrometer with a 60° sector magnetic field on a 12-inch radius. Designed for the analysis of solids in a wide range of applications, the instrument is available with either a Knudsen Effusion Cell or a thermal ionization source. Bulletin 21703, CEC, 360 Sierra Madre Villa, Pasadena, Calif. 625 Pressure T r a n s d u c e r S y s t e m s .

A 4-

page bulletin describes pressure transducer systems for monitoring gaseous and liquid media in severe environments, including temperatures to 1000° F. and radioactive atmospheres. Included are three types of transducers—gage pressure, absolute pressure, and pressure differential. Consolidated Controls Corp., Bethel, Conn. 626 Paint

Testing.

An

page brochure, "Testing-Instruments for Paints and Lacquers," illustrates and describes various devices used for testing paints, such as a film thickness gage, flexibility tester, viscosity cups, etc. Science House, Inc., Box 7913, Pittsburgh 16, Pa. 627 Chromatography Supplies. A 4-page catalog includes a complete listing of pre-packaged column packing materials, syringes, and unpacked columns for chromatography. Jarrell-Ash Co., 26 Farwell St., Newtonville 60, Mass. 628

Environmental Equipment. A 6-page bulletin describes a complete line of controlled environmental equipment including test chambers, walk-in environmental rooms, growth chambers, incu-

SCINTILLATION COUNTER AND AUTOMATIC SCALER These equipments provide a stable and accurate system for the assay of low energy Beta emitters in the liquid state, particularly Carbon 14 and Tritium. N664 Is a shielded bench-standing· scintillation counter incorporating the sample/phosphor liquid technique. The design provides optimum geometry and ready access for sample changing. Specific activities down to 10 to 10 curies per millilitre can be assayed and counting efficiencies in excess of 40% can be achieved with tritiated water samples at 15cps background. A phosphorescence filtration technique is available for background reduction. N610 is an automatic scaler and timer with an inbuilt ratemeter, pulse height analyser, amplifier and stabilised H.V. supply. The P.H.A. used with the inbuilt ratemeter provides rapid identification of energies. The P.H.A. can also be used for background reduction. In an alternative arrangement it is useful for the simultaneous assay of Double Labelled samples. The timer is used as a second scaler channel, taking an output from the upper discriminator of the P.H.A.
