Flow Photometer Flow Photometer is designed for the automatic continuous flow colorimetry as for instance in the ion exchange chromatography of amino acids with ninhydrin reaction. The instrument comprises a triple flow-colorimeter, a multipoint recorder, a calibrated flow-meter with an electric timer, and an electric control panel, all mounted in a modern table type rack cabinet. . The Flow-Colorimeter consists of three individual photometer units, each having a light source, an optical system, a monochromatic filter and a photosensitive detector. A special flow cell design reduces the effective light absorption path of the third photometer unit to extend the range of the photometer. The power to all three photometer lamps is electronically stabilized against line frequency and voltage fluctuations. Phoenix Precision Instrument Co., Inc., 3803-05 N. Low temperature infrared unit consists of two parts, a low temperature jacket, and a cell. In the jacket an open-ended Dewar flask is connected to a double walled metal annulus, inside which the cell or the solid under test is fitted. For low temperature work, the cell can be fitted with silver chloride, cesium iodide, or cesium bromide windows which are held under pressure by powerful springs. The temperature of the window at a point approximately V i e " from the sample is measured with a thermocouple. The cell has been used down to a temperature of —160° C. EKCO SCINTILLATION COUNTER AND AUTOMATIC SCALER These equipments provide a stable and accurate system for the assay of low energy Beta emitters in the liquid state, particularly Carbon 14 and Tritium. N664 is a shielded bench-standing scintillation counter incorporating· the sample/phosphor liquid technique. The design provides optimum geometry and ready access for sample changing. Specific activities down to 10 to lu curies per^ millilitre can be assayed and counting efficiencies in excess of 40% can be achieved with tritiated water samples at 15cps background. A phosphorescence filtration technique is available for background reduction. N610 is an automatic scaler and timer with an inbuilt ratemeter, pulse height analyser, amplifier and stabilised H.V. supply. The P.H.A. used with the inbuilt ratemeter provides rapid identification of energies. The P.H.A. can also be used for background reduction. In an alternative arrangement it is useful for the simultaneous assay of Double Labelled samples. The timer is used as a second scaler channel, taking an output from the upper discriminator of the P.H.A.
