Suggested uses for these phenylstearic acid derivatives are as emulsifiers; refining additives; intermediates for biocides, agricultural chemicals, detergents, lubricants and plasticizers. Hydroxyphenylstearic acid has unique anti-oxidant and lubricating properties. It can also be homopolymerized, condensed w i t h formaldehyde or made into phenolic copolymers or urethane polymers.
