Emorg ani cs Now On Stream: New Facilities For Purified Azelaic Acid Completion of full scale production facilities now makes Emery's new high purity polymer grade azelaic acid available in commercial quantities. Now you may wish to join others exploiting the advantages Emerox® 1144 holds for the development of new or improved products. Emerox® 1144 Azelaic Acid (formerly Emery 3577-D) has been developed specifically for the preparation and modification of high molecular weight polymers and other exacting uses requiring extreme purity and outstanding color and color stability. Dibasic acid content is over 99.95%. Monobasic acid content is typically 0.04%. Such high purity means less

variation and higher molecular weight in condensation polymer preparation. Color and color stability of Emerox 1144 are equal to adipic and distinctly superior to sebacic, thus providing greater control over the color of end products. Emerox 1144 has shown utility in spandex and polyamide fibers, polyester films and adhesives, polyamide molding powders and adhesives, castable and solid type urethane elastomers, and specialty unsaturated polyester resins. Significant developments from Emery oleochemical research

Versatile Esters Serve Textile, Many Other Fields Emsorb Sorbitan and Ethoxylated Sorbitan Esters find extensive use in the preparation of textile finishing agents and specialty chemicals. They also serve as anti static agents in the plastics field; components in indus trial lubricants and cutting oils; emulsifier systems for insecticides, herbicides, fungicides; and effective defoamers in paper and paint manufacturing. These esters are derived from the highest quality fatty acids, and are produced to Emery's exacting standards. The Emsorb 2500 series Sorbitan Esters are lipophilic and tend to form water in oil emulsions. They include a monooleate, trioleate, monostearate, tristearate, monopalmitate, and monolaurate. The Emsorb 6900 series Ethoxylated Sorbitan Esters are hydrophilic and are well adapted to solubilizing a wide variety of insoluble materials, such as perfume oils, germicides, and other polar compounds in aque ous systems. They include a POE (20) monooleate, POE (5) monooleate, POE (20) trioleate, POE (20) monostearate, POE (20) tristearate, POE (20) mono palmitate, and a POE (20) monolaurate. By using blends of the Emsorb 2500 and 6900 series, emulsifiers of any desired hydrophilic-lipophilic balance can be obtained. New Bulletin For Ink Makers Emery offers a new technical bulletin to assist ink makers in formulating the highest quality flexographic and roto gravure inks through the use of Emerez Polyamide Resins. Entitled ' 'Emerez Polyamide Resins in Flexographic and Rotogravure Inks," this new bulletin acquaints the ink manufacturer with solubility /dilution characteristics of Emerez Polyamides in single and cosolvent systems and their compatibility with other resins and modifiers. Performance characteristics of inks formulated with cosolvent resins Emerez 1530 and 1540, and alcohol soluble resins Emerez 1535 and 1538 are presented in detail. Why not join the other ink makers who are using Emerez Polyamide Resins for improvements in their inks? For further information, request your copy of new Technical Bulletin 446 and evaluation samples.
