CHEMICAL KINETICS MODELER CORPORATE STRATEGIC RESEARCH

You will be involved in a team effort with researchers at both ExxonMobil and within the auto industry. Your research will emphasize development of detailed kinetic mechanisms to understand how chemical structure impacts ignition, flame propagation, and the pollutant formation processes. These efforts will include development of computer algorithms that systematically build detailed chemical mechanisms, mcorporating rate constants from experiments and built from rules based on fundamental kinetic principles.

Senior Research Scientist: We are looking for an innovative chemist/engineer to work in a small but dynamic R&D Group. This individual will be responsible for conducting research in the field of energetic materials, with emphasis on solid rocket propellants and explosives, their manufacture and processing. Individual will participate in solving processing and performance problems as well as providing support to Marketing and Engineering by supplying technical guidance, propellant performance data, and other information as required. Minimum Requirements: • Ph.D. in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of related experience in the solid propellant and explosives industry including both research and production. • Experience in formulating, mixing, casting, pressing, extruding, molding, assembly and other specialized operations involving explosives and propellants. Experience in formulation and optimization of propellants and pyrotechnics for aerospace and transportation required. • Computer simulation with propellants/explosives a plus • Must be able to evacuate quickly in case of any emergency • Adequate dexterity and mobility required to accomplish tasks required in mixing and handling of energetic materials • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering with extensive experience in constructing detailed kinetic models, solid background in gas phase reaction rate theory and thermochemical kinetics with emphasis in ab-initio electronic structure theory, both in construction of potential energy surfaces for reacting systems and use of these surfaces to compute thermal rare constants.
