chemistry ( P h . D . , 1979) at the University of California at Davis. Later he spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Pesticide Chemistry and Toxicology Laboratory at the Berkeley campus.

During the past 15 years his research interests in environmental chemistry included chemical fate and transport in aquatic systems, emissions testing in i n ternal combustion

engines

used in underground

mining, and human biomonitoring. H e is particularly interested in trace organic chemical analysis by mass spectrometry

and other instrumental tech-

niques and in the measurement of reaction rate constants that determine chemical fate in the environment. Dr. Draper has served on the faculties of Utah State University and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. While at Utah State University he was chief chemist at the Epidemiologic Studies Program laboratory, with support from the U . S . Environmental Protection Agency Office of Pesticide Programs. In his current position his co-workers include epidemiologists, toxicologists, and physicians from California's Department of Health Services and Environmental Protection Agency.
