TESTS Clarity of Aqueous Solution Dissolve 0.05 g in 100 mL of water. The solution should be clear and complete. Reserve the solution for the suitability test.

Suitability as Adsorption Indicator Prepare a 0.10 N solution of sodium chloride by dissolving 0.58 g of sodium chloride in water, and dilute to 100.0 mL. Dilute 10.0 mL of the 0.10 N sodium chloride with 30.0 mL of methanol and 10.0 mL of acetic acid. Add 0.15 mL of the solution reserved from the preceding test, and with vigorous stirring, titrate with 0.1 N silver nitrate volumetric solution, protecting the titration vessel from direct sunlight. The color change from orange to bright pink should require between 9.9 and 10.1 mL of the silver nitrate solution.
