PREFACE C i n c e the invention and discovery of epoxy resins i n the late 1930's by ^ Pierre Castan in Switzerland and Sylvan Greenlee i n the United States of America, production of epoxy resins and their literature have grown steadily. Undoubtedly the biggest spurt i n production and literature occurred in the decade between 1955 and 1965. However, much research continues, and numerous papers continue to be published. Many of these fill i n side issues or bridge gaps which were by-passed by early pioneering investigators. Many of these newer papers provide the essential information needed to tie various phenomena together and thus to increase our depth of understanding of the formulation and performance of these versatile resins. It is this further unification and advancement of knowledge that these papers bring which prompts us to publish this symposium hard on the heels of the definitive treatises which have recently appeared on epoxy resins, mechanical dynamics, etc. The Epoxylite Corp.
