Ethylene Chlorhydrin a n d Propylene Chlorhydrin are "construction chemicals", useful in the synthesis of many industrially important organic compounds. To illustrate the possibilities of these intermediates: Ethylene Chlorhydrin reacts with caustic to give ethylene oxide; with sulphuric acid to give dichlordiethyl ether; with alkali cellulose to give hydroxyethyl cellulose; with sodium sulphide to give β-thiodiglycol. It is used in making acrylic acid and its esters, substituted propionic acids, phenyl ethyl alcohol a n d novocaine. The use fields of Propylene Chlorhydrin are similar. Your inquiries are invited.
