We made it. The total capacity of Japanese Geon's butadiene extraction units in Tokuyama, Japan is now 145,000 metric tons a year. The first plant with a 45,000 tons/year capacity came on stream in August, 1965, and the second of 100,000 tons/year, the world's largest single unit of its kind, went into operation in September, 1968. Both plants have an excellent record of smooth running.

Japanese Geon has it made in the field of PVC and synthetic rubbers. For years we've been applying our research and engineering expertise to the development of myriad pro cesses. The one that everybody is talking about right n o w is our GPB butadiene extraction process. It takes all the bugs out of DMF utilization (fouling, plugging, corrosion, etc.) and introduces unbeatable econo my, plus a very high BDrecoveryrate. A n d we've given our competition a

lot to chatter about by putting o n stream the world's largest single unit of this kind. As an impressive f o l l o w ing act w e have under way a new p l a n t f o r manufacturing polyisoprene rubber, the so-called synthetic natu ral rubber. And besides all the talk about Japa nese Geon processes there's also a lot of action going o n . Contact Japanese Geon w h e n you want a butadiene extraction process w i t h a strong measure of economy.
