Figure S3. HAADF-STEM image of CeO2 nanocrystals with an irregular truncated octahedral shape. No HNO3 was added for the second hydrothermal treatment of the nanoparticles. Some pores and channels still can be found in the crystals with careful examination, which are highlighted by circles and arrows. This indicates that the porous CeO2 nanocrystals are not formed by etching of the acid, but through the oriented aggregation of small crystals.
