FILM AND SHEETING SAVINGS plus Better Quality Straight-chain esters of ALFOL® Alcohols offer significant dollar savings, improved processing, and superior end-product quality—particularly vital to vinyl film and sheeting products. Take automotive upholstery, for example. This largevolume plasticizer application presents an unusual combination of performance demands: • Extremely low volatility (to prevent windshield fogging) • Outstanding low-temperature flexibility for cold-weather demands • Long-term flexibility • Good plasticizer permanence • Excellent color stability To obtain these features, manufacturers of vinyl automotive upholstery have had to rely on specialty blends such as DIDP plus one or more costly low-temperature plasticizers. Blends of this type show relatively poor solvating characteristics. Also they require processing at

higher temperatures for good fusion and adequate production rates. Today, ALFOL 610 Phthalate is replacing this type of plasticizer mixture to give the necessary balance of properties. A small amount of ALFOL 610 Adipate along with the ALFOL 610P satisfies exceptionally severe low-temperature demands. Esters of ALFOL Alcohols meet difficult non-fogging requirements, provide definite savings in raw-material costs, produce sheeting—with better feel —that functions under extreme service conditions. In addition, better solvating properties of straight-chain plasticizers—compared with blends of DIDP and specialty esters—improve processability all the way from pre-mixing to calendering. ALFOL Alcohol esters offer these advantages for all types of film and sheeting—from furniture upholstery and room dividers to shower curtains and swimmingpool liners. And, where formulations call specifically for low plasticizer levels, compounders report that the relative performance advantages of ALFOL esters over branchchain plasticizers become even more pronounced. i
