GC/MS/COMPUTER SYSTEM MYTH OR REALITY? During the Fall, 1969 ACS Meeting in New York City, the Finnigan GC/MS/Computer System was operated for the entire three-day duration of the scientific exhibition running "live" samples. Despite the non-ideal conditions at the hotel the system reliably demonstrated: Π G.C. separation of samples Π Sample enrichment through a separator Π Mass spectrometry analysis of the enriched sample Π Computer controlled mass spectrometry scan ning, data acquisition, and data presentation on plotter and teletype. There are about fifty installations of the Finnigan
1015 Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer throughout the world, most with G.C. These installations per form routine workhorse functions for the chemists who use them. The computer output will greatly increase analysis throughput and enhance perform ance. The demonstration at the ACS Meeting proved that the operational GC/MS/Computer system is no myth, when Finnigan takes over the total sys tem responsibility!
