Stokes Equipment Credit high vacuum for helping solve many prob lems of Industry and Science. A typical example is the drying of human blood plasma. In this process, perfected just in time to meet needs in war-torn Europe and to prepare plasma supplies for our own armed forces and civilian use, high vacuum is serving all humanity, has already saved countless lives.

to make it easier and economically practical to obtain a n d utilize higher vacuum . . . to use lower temperatures in processing heat-sensitive materials, speed u p processes, prevent oxida tion, reduce operating costs by utilizing exhaust steam or other less expensive heat, minimize fire a n d explosive hazards, make it easier to control obnoxious fumes, etc.

In equipment developed and manufactured by Stokes the liquid plasma is first frozen in glass containers b y means of dry-ice or other refrig erant. These containers are then placed in a vacuum dryer, operating within the low micron range, a n d the plasma is dried while still in the frozen state to a residual moisture content of well under V2 of 1%.

We engineer a n d build complete equipment, atmospheric a s well a s high vacuum . . . for dry ing, evaporating, extracting, solvent recovery, impregnating, mixing a n d other processing op erations.

To accomplish this in ct reasonable length of time the equipment is designed for rapid input of heat to the frozen material. Drying is effected without melting or softening the frozen mass. A small Dessivac apparatus, complete with Stokes High Vacuum Pump, High Vacuum Gauge, spe cial heater, etc., of the type used for drying blood plasma will be demonstrated at our booth in Grand Central Palace. W e h a v e pioneered in the field of higher vac uum . . . for years have engineered equipment

Also, if you a r e interested in Powder Metallurgy, or in Plastics Molding, you will want to examine the many samples, made on Stokes Presses, we shall have at the Exposition . . . a n d to hear about the latest developments in automatic equipment for tabletting or molding such parts. Our engineers will b e on hand to discuss new methods, new equipment, n e w economies . . . to consult with you about specific problems. Γ. I .
