Fourth Biennial Conference on Chemical Education The Fourth Biennial Conference on Chemical Education sponsored by the Division of Chemical Education will be held August 8-12 a t the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Only single sessions are planned. Since there will be no parallel sessions, each participant will be able to take part in any or all of the scheduled events s h e h e desires. 1000-word summaries of all presentations will be distributed a t registration. Each participant will be better able to formulate questions and comments in advance of the scheduled sessions and make discussions more informed and informative. Thought-provoking invited speakers will begin and end the Conference and get i t underway each morning. Equal time for presentation and participant discussion will be the format for W. James Popham, University of California-Los Angeles, Frank S. Rowland, University of California-Irvine, Kent R. Wilson, University of California-San Diego, William L. Jorgensen, Purdue University and Gilbert P. Haight, University of Illinois to focus our attention on topics such as: How Do We Know We're Educating Our Students? What Goes Up Stays Up: Models For Stratospheric Chemistry Multi-Variant Systems Made Sensible Computer-Assisted Chemical Syntheses: Bringing the Results Into the Classroom Quo Vadis Chem Ed '16? Some sessions are planned as discussion sessions and others in the traditional (lecture-short discussion) format are also planned. Authors who feel that their presentations will have more impact in this format will be scheduled in these sessions. Several exhibit (poster) sessions will be held. The author of an exhibit "paper" will be assigned an area provided with electricity, bulletin boards, table(& easel, and paper to set up h e r h i s presentation and will be available in that area a t scheduled times during these sessions (audio-visual aids will be made available upon request). A Bicentennial (USA)-Centennial (ACS) special feature will be a session on how history can be used t o teach chemistry, perhaps coupled with some exhibit papers on how to prepare materials for such use. Bring your own ideas and techniques to compare with those presented. Deadline for submission of papers: 1000-ward (no mare than 4 pages double-space typing) should be sent before May 15, 1976 t o the Program Chairman: Jerry A. Please indicate whether you would be most comforable scheduled in the discussion, exhibit, or traditional session format. Accepted papers will be scheduled as much as possible in conformity with these requests. (Additional information about exhibit sessions may be obtained by writing this same address.)
