Capacity of Research Model C a r t r i d g e lonXchanger (shown hi;re in D u p l e x Mounting Fixture) is 500 grains as CaCOi, S gph flow rate. Re moves all ionizable solids, including sil ica and COz, leaving less than 0.5 ppm.

A nondestructive, semi-micro tech nique for monitoring transitions and transformations of polymers and prepolymers is provided by the Torsional Braid Analyzer, Model 100-B. Im pregnation of a glass braid substrate with a solution of the material to be tested permits investigation of materi als that cannot support their own weight. Test samples of 100 mg can be analyzed over the temperature range - 1 8 0 ° to +500° C. Chemical Instru ments Division, Metavac-Lenscote Corp., 45-68 162nd St., Flushing, Ν. Υ. 11358 423

A new 100 KHz-110 MHz sweep os cillator has two plug-in positions. One determines the range of sweep frequen cies; the other accepts eight plug-in marker cards with individual frequen cy-determining crystals. Each of the eight markers has its own front-panel switch. A birdie by-pass marker sys tem transforms marker beatnotes into video pulses. The Model 3211A has a 0.7-V output and weighs 30 pounds. Six frequency-determining plug-ins are available. Hewlett-Packard, 1501 Page Mill Rd., Palo Alto, Calif. 94304 424

Controlled-Environment Rooms A series of reach-in controlled envi ronment rooms, the Environettes, sup ply chambers 5 feet 9 inches high and 2 feet deep with widths of 2, 3, 4, or 6 feet. Six adjustable aluminum shelves provide from 24 to 72 square feet of storage area. A motor driven blower, heater, and cooling coil are caintained in the ceiling while a circulation system maintains uniform temperature in all parts of the chamber. Safety thermo stats, accompanied by visual and audi ble alarms, take over if the primary controller malfunctions. Microvoltmeter An a.c. microvoltmeter measures 3 μΥ full scale in the presence of noise 20 dB greater than full scale. The Model 34I0A uses a phase-locked synchronous detector to separate noise from the signal. Signals in the frequency range 5 Hz to 600 kHz can be measured. Basic accuracy is ± 3 % full scale up to 60 kHz and ± 5 % full scale above 60 kHz. Hewlett-Packard, 1501 Page Mill Rd., Palo Alto, Calif. 94304 4 2 6
