Even t h o u g h it w a s d e m o n s t r a t e d t h a t blood solutions could be injected w i t h a b o u t t h e a c c u r a c y o f aqueous solutions, aqueous ethyl a c e t a t e w a s used as an internal s t a n d a r d in t h e sample t o obviate t h e necessity f o r precise m e a s u r e m e n t .
