Proportional counter is designed for high-efficiency counting of any radio active isotope prepared as a plated sample. The solid-state, windowless Model PC-3T will count from the same sample alpha, beta, and gamma rays, x-rays, and fluorescence photons. It is capable of detecting rays such as Auger electrons producing a few elec trons per event in the presence of alpha rays producing 100,000 elec trons per event. Maximum counting rate is 10° counts/minute; total num ber storage is 10 8 . The instrument has two precision time bases: 0.01 to 99.99 and 0.1 to 999.9 minutes. Nuclear Measurements Corp., 2460 N. Detectors
Double diffused, surface passivated detectors designed for operation under severe or widely varying environmental conditions will operate in a magnetic field and can be cooled to liquid nitro gen temperature. Detectors in the new DP Series consist of boron and phos phorus diffusions in P-type silicon. Standard detectors are available with active areas of 50, 100, 200, or 300 mm.2 and active depths of 300 or 500 microns. Technical Measurement Corp., 441 Washington Ave., North Haven, Conn. 06473 405

A high-speed, non-aerating stirrer prevents vortexing air into solutions. Liquid is blended hy the blades, which draw the mixture up, shear it through a series of openings, and then deflect it down again. All mixing is below the surface. The three stainless-steel parts can be easily disassembled for cleaning. The stirring blades are shielded; two standard stirring heads are available: 3 / 4 inches in diameter X 7 inches in length or l1/2 X 9 inches. The stirrer can be operated in containers from 25mm. test tubes to over 1000-ml. beak ers. Kraft Apparatus Inc., 125-19 Liberty Ave., Eichmond Hill, Ν. Υ. 11419 406
