High Purity Metals Small lot quantities of ultra high purity metals produced by Cominco Products, Inc., Spokane, Wash., are available for fundamental research. The metals include aluminum, anti mony, arsenic, bismuth, cadmium, gold, lead, silver, tin, tellurium, thallium, and zinc and possess 99.9999% purity. Or ders up to 25 grams for aluminum, ar senic, and gold, and up to 300 grams for the other metals will be accepted bv the Allied Chemical Corp., 40 Rector St., New York, Ν. Υ. 501

Glucose-3.4-C" Glucose-3,4-C14 is available at a spe cific activity of 8.3 mc. per m.¥. Prices are $125 for 10 microcuries, $200 for 50 microcuries, and $350 for 100 microcuries. Volk Radiochemical Co., 8260 Elmwoorl Ave., Skokie, III. 502 LaF 3 Crystals

Infrared Material

kit contains 1 gram of the following: beta-alanine, D,L-alanine, gamma-aminobutyric acid, L-arginine monohydroehloride, L-aspartic acid, L-cysteine hy drochloride, L-cystine, L-glutamine, gly cine, L-histidine monohydrochloride monohydrate, L-leucine, L-lysine mono hydrochloride, L-methionine, L-phenylalanine, taurine, D,L-thrconinc, Ltheonine, D,L-tryptophan, L-tryptophan, L-tyrosine, D,L-valine and Lvaline. Dejac Laboratories, The Borden Chemical Co., 5000 Langdon St., Philadelphia 24, Pa. 505

A new infrared material, T-12, has excellent transmission from 1 to 12 microns, excellent resistance to thermal shock, and can be made available in large sections. The Harshaw Chemical Co", 1945 East 97th St., Cleveland, Ohio. 507 Separation Material The first standardized hydroxylapatite, prepared by the method of Tiselius is known as 'Έίο-Gel HT." This mate rial, useful for the chromatography of proteins, enzymes, and other macromolecules, has a large, uniform particle size. Substances separated include: enzymes, albumin, growth factors, in hibitors, hormones, antigens, antibodies, globulins, and lipo-proteins. Bulletin 1002A describes the properties of this material. Bio-Rad Laboratories, 32nd and Griffin Ave., Richmond, Calif. 508

Doped Crystals Strontium oxide single crystals doped with all the rare earths and transition elements are available. These new ma terials are useful for fluorescent studies and possibly as lasers. Semi-Elements, Inc., Saxonburg Blvd., Saxonburg, Pa. 506

Substitution of the entire rare earth series, over a wide concentration range, lias been successfully made in optical grade LaF 3 crystals. LaF 3 is essentially absorption free from 2000 A. to 10 microns, and has good physical and chemical stability. Single crystals 1 / 4 inch in diameter are available up to 4 inches in length at $300 per inch, plus polishing costs for the ends. Standard dopants are neodymium and praseo dymium. SPLIT SECOND SAFETY

Model 7300 Cast aluminum receptor; twin fountain heads direct automatically regulated streams into the eyes.

High Purity Chemicals A new line of chemicals identified by the letter prefix "G" which indicates the means of purification—gas chroma tography—are available. These mate rials should prove useful as reference standards. Packaged as 5-ml. vials, sealed under nitrogen, these chemicals are accompanied by an analytical curve indicating the contents. Alcohols, ali phatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydro carbons, ketones, esters, ethers, halides, and oxygen heterocyclics are included in the list of a\railable materials.
