Two new electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometers operating in the X and Ka bands are available. The Model 601-AKA operates at fre quencies between 35 and 36 kmc. The Model 601-AX provides X-band opera tion in the 8.5 to 9.6 kmc. frequency range. These spectrometers have dual detection equipment allowing both ab sorption and dispersion to be measured simultaneously. Auxiliary equipment facilitates experiments at room tem perature or at the temperature of liquid helium. Strand Labs, Inc., 294 Centre St., Newton 58, Mass. 428 Open Dewars A new line of open dewar vessels is offered at economical prices. The con tainers feature a double wall with a permanent high vacuum of 10~5 mm. of Hg. A unique copper radiation shield is built into this space to act as a thermal block. Radiant heat transfer is held to a minimum. Capacities rang ing from a fraction of a liter to over 1000 liters are available. Sulfrian Cryogenics, Inc., 1290 Central Ave., Hillside, N. J. 429

Hydrogénation of from 1 to 1000 g. of unsaturated compounds can be carried out simply and automatically with this apparatus. Highly active catalysts formed from sodium borohydrides are generated in situ; hydrogen is generated within the system and the operation proceeds at atmospheric pressure.
