Here's α film-former that really performs...GAF PVP.

PVP (Polyvinylpyrrolidone) and its derivatives (such as Gafquat® quaternized vinylpyrrolidones) have proven to be unusual chemicals with unusual benefits. Their compatibility with other chemicals in both solution and film form, and their specific affinity for hair and skin make them ideal for cosmetic applications. They give adhesiveness, luster, hardness and water rewettability to a variety of cosmetic products like hairsprays, skin creams, eye makeups, shav ing creams and lathers, deodorants, and toilet soaps. They're film-formers that really perform. PVP is miscible with water in all proportions, and is freely soluble in many organic solvents, i n c l u d i n g alcohols,

nitroparaffins, and amines. It is highly stable, has no objectionable odor, and is essentially a physiologically inert mate rial. In fact, it is often used as a detoxicant and desensitizer for germicidal products and detergents, as a binder and coating agent for tablets, and as a blood plasma volume extender. And, just as you can depend on PVP to help your products perform the way you and your customers demand, you can count on GAF to keep you in good supply from our high-pressure acetylene plants in Texas and Kentucky.
