Highlights from the Literature In my last editorial, on the same theme, I asked for volunteers to assist with the compilation of the “Highlights from the Literature” each issue. I was therefore very pleased to receive a large number of offers from scientists from a variety of countries, and I have accepted some of these offers. Others I have regretfully had to turn down, but it is gratifying to know that if I or Ulf Tilstam decides in the future to relinquish our “duties”, there are many able scientists willing to dedicate their free time to help out. Thank you to all who volunteeredsI am delighted that so many readers are sufficiently interested to email me immediately the web edition was available. It augurs well for the future of the Highlights and has been an opportunity to expand the coverage into heterocyclic chemistry, biocatalysis, and into more chemical engineering topics. The Highlights this month includes sections from some of the new contributors. Others will hopefully contribute to the subsequent editions, being unable to meet this month’s deadline after being accepted as a “highlighter”. I hope readers will appreciate the expanded coverage of the literature. Trevor Laird Editor OP050093A
