Highlights of the Langmuir 2018 Editorial Advisory Board Langmuir’s Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) comprises a diverse group of scientists with expertise in a broad range of interface-related science who contribute their scientific expertise and time to guide the Journal. EAB members are selected by distinguishing themselves among their peers for excellence in their fields and for their impactful contributions to Langmuir as frequent authors. In addition to publishing in Langmuir, they do more than their share of reviewing and often adjudicate contradictory reviews. Perhaps more importantly, they provide valuable advice that has allowed the Journal to negotiate difficult periods in scientific publishing. For example, a few years ago, they recommended a refocusing of the Journal toward more forward-looking interface science, a recommendation that was put into effect. Langmuir’s EAB members conduct research at the interfaces between chemistry, biology, and physics, and their specializations range from dynamic nanoparticle surface chemistry in the biological milieu to heterogeneous catalysis, as well as from interfacial electrochemistry to computational modeling of interfacial interactions. The breadth of EAB’s expertise in interfacial science is truly amazing. Langmuir’s EAB is geographically diverse. The 47 members conduct research in prestigious research institutions across 11 different countries. They serve as Langmuir’s eyes and ears in these diverse settings and allow the Journal to be responsive to both scientific and cultural needs. Many members of the EAB serve as editors or EAB members for other journals, contribute to scientific review panels, and have partnerships with industry. This breadth of participation in all aspects of the scientific enterprise provides the necessary understanding of the forces that move science and hence Langmuir. In this virtual issue of Langmuir, we emphasize the vast scope of expertise represented by the EAB by presenting key articles they published between 2017 and 2018. We trust you will agree with us that the EAB is in good hands.
