High tensile strength and abrasion resistance "Elvanol" polyvinyl alcohol is a water-soluble resin t h a t forms tough, flexible films with tensile strength up to 22,000 lbs. per sq. in. and with excellent resistance to abrasion. These films resist tearing and puncturing. Typical applications:
A TOUGH, CONTINUOUS, FILM of " El vanol" sizes warp yarn for complete protection against loom abrasion. 400x magnification shows continuity of film.
W a r p sizes for filament a n d s p u n y a r n s i n c l u d i n g m a n - m a d e fibers; modifiers of t h e r m o s e t t i n g resin textile finishes; clear films for v a c u u m m o l d i n g .
Grease-, oil- and gas-resistant Coatings of "Elvanol" show excellent resistance to grease and oil. A continuous film of "Elvanol" produces not only a greaseproof surface but one highly impermeable to gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide. Paper treated with ''Elvanol" has excellent ^rintin** ^ro^erties, since "Elvanol" reduces the penetration of ink while promoting its even distribution.
