EDITORIAL Hydrogenation and Transfer Hydrogenation This special issue of Accounts of Chemical Research aims to capture major facets of the field of hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenation. This issue begins with a discussion of the origins of asymmetric hydrogenation presented in a perspective coauthored by Knowles and Noyori. Industrial applications of asymmetric hydrogenation, transfer hydrogenation, and biocatalytic reduction are described in accounts from a number of process groups. Finally, advances in core areas of hydrogenation technology as well as emerging fields founded on hydrogenation chemistry are given in several Accounts from industrial and academic research teams. We are proud to present this special edition on hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenation and are delighted that many leading members of the industrial and academic research communities have contributed Accounts.
