I&EC Research Appoints Feng-Shou Xiao and Announces “New” Process Section
I
n a previous editorial1 at the end of 2016, Prof. Mike Dudukovic shared some reflections as he stepped down after 25 years of service as an Associate Editor for Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research. Mike did a tremendous job in handling manuscripts related to chemical reaction engineering and computational fluid dynamics. With this editorial, I am pleased to introduce Prof. Feng-Shou Xiao as a new Associate Editor. His term begins just as this issue is published in March. Feng-Shou is a professor of chemistry at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, and he has published over 300 research articles. With his expertise in heterogeneous catalysis and materials synthesis and characterization, he will help I&EC Research keep pace in these areas where submissions have been increasing. Feng-Shou will strengthen the editorial team and round out the team’s expertise, which covers all areas of modern chemical engineering and applied chemistry. A second change I want to highlight is the renaming of one of our topical sections. The section that had been entitled “Process Design and Control” has been renamed as “Process Systems Engineering”. This update is the direct result of a suggestion we received at our 2016 Editorial Advisory Board meeting and it was supported by Larry Biegler and Tunde Ogunnaike, the editors who handle manuscripts in this area. With the renaming of the section, we aim to describe more accurately the broad range of research being conducted by the process systems community and provide the best home for publishing new ideas and new work from this community.
