ith this editorial, I am pleased to introduce Professor Xinbin Ma as a new Associate Editor. His appointment with I&EC Research begins as this issue is published in April. Professor Ma is the Cheung Kong Professor of Chemical Engineering at Tianjin University, where he also serves as Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering & Technology and Director of the Key Laboratory for Green Chemical Technology of the Ministry of Education. Xinbin has expertise in industrial catalysis, catalytic mechanisms, structure−function relationships for heterogeneous catalysts, reaction kinetics, and transport processes. Many of the submissions to I&EC Research report on these topics. Since the number of submissions to the journal has been growing, Xinbin’s joining the team will help the team keep pace and strengthen the team’s expertise in catalysis. Xinbin is our fifth editor appointment to be based in Asia. Professor Ma has published over 200 research articles, and he is a coauthor on a highly cited review1 on catalytic hydrogenation of CO2. We welcome Prof. Ma to our global team of editors during this 110th anniversary year for I&EC Research. The journal has been at the forefront of chemical engineering research since 1909, and we continue today as the largest and most-cited general chemical engineering research journal in the world.
