If it can disperse carbon black, it can disperse most anything. Lomar® D can. We took a quart-size pebble mill jar and half-filled it with stones. Next we dissolved 8.75 g of Lomar D in 150 g of water and put this solution in the jar. Finally the carbon black—87.50 g—was added. Then we rolled the jar for 16 hours. Result: a stable,flowable dispersion containing 35.5% carbon black solids. Lomar D is a high molecular weight sulfonated naphthalene condensate. More highly polymerized than most of the condensates of this class, it is
supplied as the sodium salt, a fine, tan powder easily dispersed in water. To cite just one of its many uses, Lomar D is highly effective as a stabilizer and viscosity depressant in latex and casein paper coating compounds. If making high solids dispersions in aqueous media is a problem you face, keep this in mind: no product on the market can compare with Lomar D. And we welcome the chance to prove it.

And that's just the start of the story. Nopcowax 22-DS offers good color, lubricity, water resistance, and resistance to alkalis and acids. It acts as a softener, a dye solvent, and an antiblocking agent. If your business is adhesives (it •eliminates cold block) . . . or asphalt (raises the softening point) or rubber (acts as lubricant for extrusions) . . . or plastics (boosts ram forward speed in injection molding) . . . or powdered metallurgy (internal lubricant) . . . or paper (makes paraffin-coated papers more flexible). . .but why go on? Nopcowax is a veritable—and versatile—workhorse. It's likely you could ride it to good advantage.
An ester-type surfactant in liquid form, Trem-014 is not a preventive measure. But if viscosity has built up, count on Trem-014 to cut it down to size. It is completely soluble in ester plasticizers. Use it to control viscosity over a considerable length of time simply by adding it in regular increments. You can also put it to work reclaiming plastisols where the viscosity has become too high for use. And it is an ideal substitute for more expensive plasticizer combinations in preparing low initial viscosity plastisols.
